Implementation of Problem-Oriented Policing

Implementation of Problem-Oriented Policing

As part of USAID’s program for the Crime Prevention and Reduction (PREVI), LAB-CO provided technical assistance to the Municipal Commission for Citizen Security for the incorporation of Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) to its processes. We applied an iterative and collaborative approach that addresses the most recurrent security problems in the municipality. The project led to the development of innovative responses that effectively reduced the prevalence of selected crimes during implementation, while simultaneously transferring capabilities for the design, implementation, and evaluation of crime prevention and reduction strategies to the police.
LAB-CO is currently replicating the strategy implemented in Morelia with the municipal police departments of Guadalajara, Zapopan and San Luis Potosí.
